The Challenge:
With global agribusiness facing increasing
pressure from generic competitors,
Market Edge was asked to assist the
regional headquarters of a major manufacturer
to improve the quality of its Strategic
Analysis and Planning. Many of the
country units had islands of excellence,
but no vehicle was in place to share
expertise and generate value across
the region.
The Approach:
Market Edge assessed historical processes
and planning tools, examined cross-functional
corporate planning calendars, and
built a planning framework. This established
a common level of professionalism
based on standard business tools for
all geographical units.
The Outcome:
A full planning calendar was developed
to integrate global, regional, and
local planning activities. Opportunities
for efficiency were identified and
leveraged, eliminating repetitive
reporting and approval activities.
Strategic planning templates were
aligned with the content of management
development programs and with global
strategic initiatives. These action
steps ensured that all strategic planning
efforts were aligned, and local activities
became more effective.
